Staking platform

I was Galaxy's Head of Staking Platform. I built and launched the platform and the business, and scaled it to a peak of $3B+ under stake across 8,000+ Ethereum validators.

Context

Staking had a strong year in 2025, and we could not retreat. Launching a product like this means making decisions about stability, features and scale at the same time, and every one of them was hard.

What we built

  • The staking platform and the business around it, from launch to a peak of $3B+ under stake.
  • A shared blockchain platform for Galaxy's infrastructure business, including a tooling cluster ingesting 500,000+ metrics per second across 20+ validator networks.
  • A distributed systems and protocol engineering team, with sprint planning and work intake that made delivery predictable.
  • Incident triage, response processes and runbooks, as the team and the business grew.

Working inside the client

I led a forward-deployed engagement with the world's largest asset manager, embedding our engineers on-site to build and deliver an industry-first ETH staking solution. The client kept control of its validator keys, and Galaxy operated the validator infrastructure.

What surprised me

The volume and scale at which the blockchain moves, and how fast the technology changes. Running staking infrastructure is more than running validators: it takes a position management system, a staking orchestration system and a key management system, and it means understanding client pairings and proposer-builder separation in the Ethereum market.

Incidents

There were a lot of incidents that year, and we worked through them as a team. When something went wrong, we got clear on what was happening, found the cause, fixed it, and wrote up what we learned. The client understands what happened, the fixes are in place, and the system gets better.
